In this essay I will explain what it means to be African American according to Dr.
Marimba. My three main points will be on what it means to be African American, following the traditions and culture.
My first main point will be on what it means to be African American. When I think of being African American I think of my ancestors. Being African American means to pass on traditions and teach the young about history and the people who struggled for us to have fair freedom. Being African American means, to live in your culture for our ancestors, and when we feel like giving up to strive and think back on how hard they worked for us to live free today. Being African American means to show respect to our ancestors, and to give them the knowledge that they disserve.
My second main point will be on the traditions of being African American. We should follow the traditions that our ancestors followed such as rites to passage, weddings, birthdays, ECT. Following our ancestors traditions show that we still have respect for what they did and how they did it. In my thought following my ancestor’s traditions is a sign of respect.
My third and final main point will be on African American culture. Being African American also means that we should take pride and learning about my culture, we should also pass our education on to our young. Our culture makes us who we are. If you learn about your culture you will be amazed on what you can find out, but most importantly you get to know yourself better.
In conclusion in this essay I went over what it means to be African American. I also went over how we should follow our ancestor’s traditions and how important it is to learn about our culture. Furthermore this essay is what I think “what it means to be African”

Understanding Stress
In this essay I will explain what roles of stress that play in my life style from childhood years to my teenage years. My three main points will be on school,friends/relationships,and family.
My first main point will be on school.School has always made me stress from my child hood years to my middle school years.School has made me stress in many ways such as getting good grades, and getting high scores on my test. Also being around other kids.Stress with school plays a major role in my life to this day because I half to worry about getting good grades, and high scores in the PS SA to get into high schools I wanna go to.
My third main point will be on friendships/relationships. This point will half to be really stressful point in life for teenagers.Making good friends ,fitting in with friends is very stressful because me as a teenager living in 2009 is faced with alot of choices of making right and wrong decisions.Making good friends and good choices when hanging out with friends has always been stressful from my younger years because I would always hang out with the big kids. When it comes to relationships its to much to handle. Relationships play a major role of stress in my life because in this life now that I live in all boys want is my dignity. Its hard to find a boy as a friend who just want to be friends.
My last main point will be on family. Family is the last thing on my mind when it comes to stress sometimes. The only thing that has always stressed me from my younger years to my teenage years is the fact that my family thinks I'm going to make the same mistakes my cousins, and aunts did. That's the only thing that makes me stress when it comes to my family.
In conclusion those are the main stressful things in my lifestyle, since my younger years to my teenage years.
My way of dealing with stress is writing I like to write my thoughts out on paper sometimes a poem and sometimes I just think of art.

Obama and the congressional black caucus
1~The Congressional Black Caucus is an organization that represents the African American members of the United States Congress. The caucus membership is exclusive to African Americans. The Congressional Black Caucus started in 1969.13 Black Members of the U.S. House of Representatives got together to focus on their efforts to address the legislative concerns of Black and minority citizens.
2~There are 13 african americans who ait on the black caucus. Parren Mitchell,Charles Rangel,Bill Clay Sr., Ron Dellums,George Collins,Louis Stokes,Ralph Metcalfe,John Conyers,Walter Fauntroy,Robert Nix Sr,Charles Diggs, Shirley Chisholm, and Gus Hawkins.
3~The nature of president obama's meeting with the black caucus was that they wanted to get there issues across. The black caucus told Obama what they wanted to see happened. They explained the education that is being taught change. They meeting was really good.
4~The black caucus would like him to adress educational issues also they wanted to adress health care, judicial nominations, civil rights, foreign policy and – naturally – jobs, taxes and the economy, participants said.
5~I think that they would have a pretty good relationship because he is a african american. The relationship may be rocky because Obama is under a lot of stress with the economy, so they might not see progress right away.

Thoughts Of Taking Equality
This article states alot of important issuses in my view. It's not right that are people are in last place, when it comes to tesing.I feel as though that are african people are just becoming lazy. This article tells the truth about our people, and its not just us as stated in this article. Our fellow black students need to step our game up ,and show people that we can be up on or skills, when it comes to taking major school wide test. The thought of taking equality is totally fine in my view. All i can do is hope that this article wakes my people up, and puts a thought in there mind, and be the best they can be,and work hard.

Opening Ceremony Assignment
The opening ceremony was very fun in my thought. The ceremony ran very smooth, the first thing that opened up the ceremony was some people that choose to sing sung the african tribe song. The ceremony had alot of important steps, the walk of faith would half to be my favorite. What my mom told me I never knew. She told me that she was very nervous when she had me. She also said that she didn't no how to raise a girl, but she said that she is very proud of what I have grown into .She just continued to tell me stories about my child hood. The circle of life was when the lights went out and everybody who attented had a vertue, and they had to say there vertue and light a candle. We aso had to do the rites welcome dance it was fun really fun.The color the girls had to wear is white and gold which the colors meant delicate. The boys had to wear red which meant they were bold I believe. After the whole cermony was done we had a dinner all togther. The food was pretty good I will admit. So the ceremony was better than I thought. I had fun leraning new things but most importantly I had fun.

Indie Arie : "I Wanna Go"
Indie Arie "I Wanna Go"
The time is right
I'm gonna pack my bags
And take that journey down the road
Cause over the mountain I see the bright sun shinning
And I want to live inside the glow
Yeah
I wanna go to place where I am nothing and everything
That exists between here and nowhere
I wanna got to a place time has consequence oh yeah
The sky opens to my prayers
I wanna go to beautiful, beautiful, beautiful,
I wanna go to beautiful, beautiful, beautiful,
I wanna go to beautiful, beautiful, beautiful,
I wanna go to beautiful, beautiful, beautiful,
Please understand that it not that I don't care
But right know these wall are closing in on me
I love you more than I love life itself
But I need to find a place were I can breathe
I can breathe
I wanna go to place were I can hold the intangible
And let of the pain with all my might
I wanna go to a place where I am suspended in ecstasy
Some where between dark and light
Where wrong becomes right
I wanna go to beautiful, beautiful, beautiful,
I wanna go to beautiful, beautiful, beautiful,
I wanna go to beautiful, beautiful, beautiful,
I wanna go to beautiful, beautiful, beautiful,
My Thought
This song is about how she has a thought of being beautiful and being in a very different place. This song is a powerfull song in my thought. This song sends a strong message to young girls who don't feel as though there not really pretty. his song influences young girls to just picture a place of beauty when they feel closed in. This is a very powerful song to young girls and even women.

Biggie Song
"Gimme The Loot" By Biggie Smalls
My thought
Gimme the Loot by Biggie Smalls is a song about how he has no money so he wants to rob people .This song gives an influence on the world by saying its cool that you can rop people, and that you should just takes whats not yours. So you feel the need to rob people. To young people its giving them a negative image on how to get money. In my eyes I no this song very well but that does not mean that i should go aroud knocking people out for there money. This song is a bad example on how to get money.
